Our Impact

Technology

Buckalew PTO supports technology needs for our students and campus.  Recent purchases include Chromebooks, iPads for students, laser projectors for classrooms, and a new school announcement system.  PTO also pays for a school-wide subscription to the online math program, Dream Box.

Literacy

PTO has promoted literacy over the years by purchasing classroom books and bookshelves, and coordinating the fall and spring book fairs.  New for the 2023-2024 school year, Buckalew PTO is purchasing a book vending machine and filling it with new books.  Students will have opportunities throughout the year to earn a token to get a book from the machine.  Our goal is to get a new book in the hand of each student by the end of the school year.

Campus Improvements & Beautification

As Buckalew approaches it's 25th year, keeping our campus up-to-date is a priority.  PTO funds have purchased a new playground, soccer goals, security upgrades, and building updates needed to accommodate for school growth. The PTO Beautification Committees also maintain school landscaping and entryway decorations.  We love our school and strive to help keep it in top condition.

Field Trips

The Buckalew PTO annual budget funds field trips for all students. Field Trips benefit students by creating memorable experiences and providing real world context, promoting learning outside of the classroom.

Staff Appreciation

Buckalew PTO loves our teachers! The Hospitality Committee plans appreciation events for the Buckalew Staff, including a Back to School breakfast, Stock the Fridge, monthly staff luncheons, and a cookie event in December. The PTO also coordinates with room moms to make sure our teachers feel special on their birthdays, in the holiday season, and during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Yearbooks

From photography of school events, to the design and layout of the pages, the Buckalew yearbook is created by the PTO Yearbook Committee. Yearbooks are a keepsake that your Buckalew Bear will cherish for years to come, and are made possible by our dedicated parent volunteers.

Spirit Wear

The PTO Spirit Wear Committee designs and sells new Buckalew T-shirts for each school year.  Students, parents, and teachers wear these for field trips, the Boosterthon Fun Run, Field Day, and any day they want to show their Buckalew school pride.

Parent Involvement

We strive to create a sense of community among our Buckalew families. The Big Bear Little Bear program was created to connect new Buckalew families with existing ones.  Several meetups are scheduled during the year to welcome our new Buckalew Bears.

Community Outreach

The PTO collects items for several drives throughout the year to benefit our community.  These include a Kindergarten Coat Drive, 1st Grade Pet Supply Drive, 2nd Grade Pajama Drive, 3rd Grade Food Drive, and 4th Grade Toy Drive.
